Dialysis
All staff are Clarkson employees. We are open Monday through Saturday, 4:00 AM to approximately 4:30 PM and all holidays except Christmas.
The tech is responsible for opening the unit at 4:00 AM, which includes setting up machines, mixing bicarb, testing water and testing machine before any patients can be started.
An RN assesses the patients, decides on treatment needed, inserts needles, draws lab and gives medications.
Both RN and tech are allowed to initiate dialysis treatment and end treatment by returning patient's blood.
Clarkson physicians visit the unit approximately once a month with most communication being done via telephone. Dr. Markham also assists with our patients when more direct physician involvement is needed.
We have 21 patients at this time. Most dialyze 3 times per week for 3-4 hours each treatment. We try to do for our patients in this short time what a normal kidney does 24 hours per day.
Dialysis Staff includes:

Debbie Bertelsen, RN
Juliene Johnson, RN
